PAPER MARIO BADGE LIST YEAH

POWER JUMP
Description: Lets you do a Power Jump. Uses 2 FP. Mario stomps on a single
enemy using a lot of attack power.
Badge Points: 1
Location: Goomba Village
Directions: Upon making your way back to Goomba Village after falling off the
veranda, Goompa will give you this badge as a reward.

MEGA JUMP
Description: Lets you do a Mega Jump. Uses 6 FP. Mario stomps on a single enemy
using tons of attack power.
Badge Points: 3
Location: Shiver Mountain
Directions: After fitting the Star Stone into its slot and opening the way to
the Crystal Palace, check the far right of the platform reached upon ascending
the first flight of 'ice stairs'. The badge should be found in fairly
conspicuous red '!' box.

SHRINK STOMP
Description: Lets you do a Shrink Stomp. Uses 2 FP. If it works, the enemy
Mario stomps on shrinks. It also decreases the enemy's attack power by half for
a bit.
Badge Points: 1
Location: Toad Town Tunnels
Directions: Upon first entering the Toad Town Tunnels, head all the way to the
right. You'll have to get by a large Yellow Block, several Gloombas and a
Blooper, but at the end of the path, there'll be a chest containing this badge.

MULTIBOUNCE
Description: Lets you do a Multibounce. Uses 2 FP. Jumps on all enemies in a
row if action command is timed right.
Badge Points: 1
Location: Toad Town
Directions: Buy at Rowf's Badge Shop for 75 Coins.

JUMP CHARGE
Description: Lets you charge up Jump power. Uses 1 FP. When charged, Mario's
Jump power goes up by 2. Lets you charge unlimited times, but power fades after
attack.
Badge Points: 1
Location: Toad Town
Directions: Buy at Rowf's Badge Shop for 50 coins.

S. JUMP CHG.
Description: Greatly charges up Jump power. Uses 4 FP. When supercharged,
Mario's Jump power goes up by 3. Lets you charge unlimited times, but power
fades after attack.
Badge Points: 2
Location: Cloudy Climb
Directions: The Cloudy Climb's main entrance platform from Flower Fields has a
moving cloud 'elevator' just a bit northwest from the beanstalk back to ground
level. Ride the elevator upward to snag this badge atop a cloud.

SLEEP STOMP
Description: Lets you do a Sleep Stomp. Uses 2 FP. If it works the enemy Mario
jumps on falls asleep for a bit.
Badge Points: 1
Location: Toad Town
Directions: Buy from Rowf's Badge Shop for 75 Coins.

DIZZY STOMP
Description: Lets you do a Dizzy Stomp. Uses 2 FP. If it works, the enemy Mario
stomps on becomes dizzy. It also paralyzes the enemy for a short time.
Badge Points: 1
Location: Mt. Lavalava
Directions: This badge can be found within a chest in the lower southwest area
of Mt. Lavalava. You'll need the Ultra Hammer to break the Steel Block guarding
the room containing the chest.

D-DOWN JUMP
Description: Lets you do a D-Down Jump. Uses 2 FP. Disables an enemy's defense
power and causes some damage.
Badge Points: 2
Location: Tubba Blubba's Castle
Where To Find: On a table in Tubba Blubba's Castle. Bomb a wall upstairs hidden
behind a sleeping guard, and then Spin Jump through the upper right 'broken
floor'. From there, use Parakarry to fly over to the badge.

POWER BOUNCE
Description: Lets you do a Power Bounce. Uses 3 FP. Jumps on one enemy
continuously until you miss an action command.
Badge Points: 2
Location: Pleasant Path
Directions: Near the entrance to the Koopa Bros. Fortress is a room filled with
several jail cells. Two of them can be entered by using Bombette to blow up
visible cracks. One cell contains a key; the other one holds this badge.


POWER SMASH
Description: Lets you do a Power Smash. Uses 2 FP. Hammers an enemy using lots
of attack power.
Badge Points: 1
Location: Toad Town Tunnels
Directions: After acquiring the Super Hammer, explore the west side of the Toad
Town Tunnels to find this badge.

MEGA SMASH
Description: Lets you do a Mega Smash. Uses 6 FP. Hammers an enemy with a huge
amount of attack power.
Badge Points: 3
Location: Flower Fields
Directions: In the area northwest of the Flower Fields entrance, this badge can
be spotted within a small cave located inside a hill. Climb the hill and and
use Bombette to explode the rock at the top. This will uncover a hole which you
can use to drop down and claim the badge.

SMASH CHARGE
Description: Lets you charge up your hammer. Uses 1 FP. When charged, Mario's
Hammer power goes up by 2. Lets you charge unlimited times, but power fades
after attack.
Badge Points: 1
Location: Koopa Bros. Fortress
Directions: On a small pedestal in the Koopa Bros. Fortress, 'guarded' by a
Bob-omb. Can't miss it, really; it's on the linear path through the level,
close to the end.

S. SMASH CHARGE
Description: Greatly charges up your Hammer. Uses 4 FP. When supercharged,
Mario's Hammer power goes up by 3. Lets you charge unlimited times, but power
fades after attack.

SPIN SMASH
Description: Lets you do a Spin Smash. Uses 2 FP. If Mario hits an enemy, it
smashes into the ones behind it.

Directions: Buy at Rowf's Badge Shop for 75 Coins.

QUAKE HAMMER
Description: Lets you do a Quake Hammer. Uses 2 FP. Slightly damages all
enemies on the ground or ceiling.
Badge Points: 1
Location: Mt. Rugged
Directions: Near the edge of the Toad Town side of Mt. Rugged, there's an easy
to spot ledge that holds this badge. It can be reached using Parakarry's flying
ability.

POWER QUAKE
Description: Lets you do a Power Quake. Uses 4 FP. Greatly damages all enemies
on the ground or ceiling.
Badge Points: 2
Location: Jade Jungle
Directions: After acquiring Sushie, you can grab this badge out of a fairly
conspicuous '!' box in the middle of a small island just to the northwest of
Yoshi's Cabana (Shop).

MEGA QUAKE
Description: Lets you do a Mega Quake. Uses 7 FP. Severely damages all enemies
on the ground or ceiling
Badge Points: 3
Location: Toad Town
Directions: Buy at Rowf's Badge Shop for 200 Coins.

HAMMER THROW
Description: Lets you do a Hammer Throw. Uses 2 FP. Hits one enemy with the
Hammer, no matter where the enemy is.
Badge Points: 2
Location: Goomba Road
Directions: A screen or so west of Toad Town is a tree you can smack with your
hammer. Hitting aforementioned tree will cause a spring to fall down near you.
Jumping on it springs you to a nearby roof, where the treasure chest containing
the badge lies. Yet another reason to hit
most everything you find (i.e. trees) with your hammer.

D-DOWN POUND
Description: Lets you do a D-Down Pound. Uses 2 FP. Disables an enemy's defense
power and injures it.
Badge Points: 2
Location: Toad Town
Directions: Buy from Rowf's Badge Shop for 75 Coins.
DOUBLE DIP
Description: During battle, lets you use two items during one turn. Uses 3 FP.
Badge Points: 1
Location: Toad Town
Directions: Buy at Rowf's Badge Shop for 100 Coins.

TRIPLE DIP
Description: During battle, lets you use three items during one turn. Uses 6 FP.
Badge Points: 3
Location: Crystal Palace
Directions: While exploring the area beyond the red door, you'll come across a
room with a 'spinning' platform that will allow Mario to swap sides of the
'mirror' with the flip (or bomb) of a switch. Use Bombette to explode the far
right wall in the upper half of this room to reveal a hole leading to a hall
containing the chest with this badge. Note that the wall you have to bomb does
NOT have a telltale crack in it like most bombable walls. Tricky, eh?

GROUP FOCUS
Description: Lets Mario's party members use the Focus command, as well.
Badge Points: 2
Location: Toad Town
Directions: Buy at Rowf's Badge Shop for 100 Coins.

QUICK CHANGE
Description: During battle, lets you change your party members... and still use
the new member without losing a turn.
Badge Points: 4
Location: Toad Town
Directions: The fortuneteller in Toad Town will mention seeing something good
happen to someone running around a red palm in Dry Dry Outpost. If you go there
and run a few laps around the red palm, someone will tell you to stop because
you're making them dizzy. He'll also let slip that he heard if you Spin Jump
three times in a house with a spinning roof, you'll get something good. If you
go back to the Toad Town fortuneteller's place and Spin Jump three times, lo
and behold, this badge'll appear. If you're truly lazy, you CAN just skip to
the last part (spin jumping in the fortuneteller's) and still get the Badge. I
won't tell anyone.

PEEKABOO
Description: Makes it possible to see your enemy's HP.
Badge Points: 3
Location: Shooting Star Summit
Directions: Buy from Merlow for 10 Star Pieces.

DODGE MASTER
Description: Makes the action command work more frequently.
Badge Points: 2
Location: Toad Town
Directions: Buy at Rowf's Badge Shop for 100 Coins.

HAPPY HEART
Description: Restores HP automatically during battle at a slow rate.
Badge Points: 3
Location: 1) Shooting Star Summit; 2) Jade Jungle
Directions: 1) Buy from Merlow for 8 Star Pieces. 2) This one can be found
sitting on a branch on the outside of Raphael's tree. Walk up the first spiral
staircase within the tree, and then follow the spiral walkway outside the tree
all the way to the end, passing by the opening. Fairly hard to miss.

HAPPY FLOWER
Description: Restores FP automatically during battle at a slow rate.
Badge Points: 3
Location: 1) Shooting Star Summit; 2) Flower Fields
Directions: 1) Buy from Merlow for 8 Star Pieces. 2) In the area directly east
of the Flower Fields entrance, there are three trees. Hit them with your hammer
in the following order: middle, right, left. If done correctly, the badge
should fall out of the left tree for you to collect.

DEEP FOCUS
Description: When using Focus, charges more energy than usual.
Badge Points: 1
Location: 1) Princess Peach's Castle; 2) Shy Guy's Toy Box; 3) Bowser's Castle
Directions: 1) Princess Peach can pick up this badge in the castle's
'mysterious chest' room, which is found behind the far right door on the second
floor. After that, it's just a matter of inserting it inside the chest so Mario
can pick it up later at the fortuneteller's house near Shooting Star Summit. Be
sure to watch out for guards. 2) The second Deep Focus badge is contained
within a hidden '?' box in the area to the left of the Red Station. Use Watt's
special ability to search it out. 3) You can snag this badge at the entrance to
Bowser's Castle after shutting off the lava flow.

HP PLUS
Description: Increases maximum HP by 5.
Badge Points: 3
Location: 1) Toad Town; 2) Koopa Village; 3) Forever Forest
Directions: 1) Buy at Rowf's Badge Shop for 150 Coins. 2) Right after getting
Kooper to join, use his shell throw ability to grab this badge from a stump on
the way back to the Koopa Village. 3) Refer to the Badge Hunting section on the
Forever Forest.

FP PLUS
Description: Increases maximum FP by 5.
Badge Points: 3
Location: 1) Toad Town; 2) Pleasant Path; 3) Forever Forest
Directions: 1) Buy at Rowf's Badge Shop for 150 Coins. 2) After clearing out
Koopa Bros. Fortress, use Bombette to take out the cracked wall just outside
the castle walls. Go down the pipe to find the badge on a cliff high above the
level. 3) Refer to the Badge Hunting section on the Forever Forest.

FLOWER SAVER
Description: During battle, saves 1 FP every time you attack.
Badge Points: 6
Location: 1) Shooting Star Summit; 2) Flower Fields
Directions: 1) Buy from Merlow for a whopping 25 Star Pieces. 2) At the far end
of the path to the east of the Flower Fields entrance lies a well. Approaching
and searching this well will give you the option to hurl an item down it.
Tossing a Blue Berry inside will yield this badge. Note that tossing anything
ELSE down the well will result in combat.

POWER PLUS
Description: Increases Mario's Jump and Hammer attack powers by 1.
Badge Points: 6
Location: 1) Shooting Star Summit; 2) Shy Guy's Toy Box
Directions: 1) Buy from Merlow for a whopping 25 Star Pieces. 2) In the area to
the left of Blue Station, you'll find a chest guarded by a black Anti Guy. If
you can take him out, you can grab this badge from the chest. Alternatively, if
you're of a more pacifistic nature, you can buy the fellow off with a Lemon
Candy (made by Tayce T. using a Lemon and Cake Mix).

DEFEND PLUS
Description: Decreases the damage Mario takes by 1.
Badge Points: 6
Location: Shy Guy's Toy Box
Directions: This badge can be found in the area to the right of the Pink
Station. Don't worry too much; the chest is extremely easy to spot.

DAMAGE DODGE
Description: If you do the action command, decreases Mario's damage by 1.
Badge Points: 3
Location: 1) Toad Town; 2) Mt. Rugged
Directions: 1) Buy at Rowf's Badge Shop for 150 Coins. 2) In the very upper
left area of Mt. Rugged, there is a little alcove cut out of a small mountain.
Inside, on the left, is a partially hidden staircase that leads up to a chest
containing the badge.

P-DOWN, D-UP
Description: Decreases attack power by 1. Increases defense power by 1.
Badge Points: 2
Location: Crystal Palace
Directions: Beyond the entrance hall's blue door and on the other side of the
crystal 'mirror' lies a room with a boarded up floor which can be shattered
with a Spin Jump. Below is a hall guarded by Swoopulas that eventually leads
into a room containing a chest with this badge.

P-UP, D-DOWN
Description: Increases attack power by 1. Decreases defense power by 1.
Badge Points: 2
Location: Crystal Palace
Directions: While exploring the area beyond the red door, you'll come across a
room containing a small statue. Push it from behind to reveal a hole in the
floor. Drop down and follow the hall to reach a room containing a chest with
the badge.

HP DRAIN
Description: Decreases Mario's attack power by 1. But for every attack turn,
Mario's HP recovers by 1. Mario's HP can recover by a maximum of 5.
Badge Points: 3
Location: Shooting Star Summit
Directions: Buy from Merlow for 15 Star Pieces.

ALL OR NOTHING
Description: If you use the Action Command, Mario's attack power goes up 1. If
you fail, it goes to 0.
Badge Points: 4
Location: Toad Town
Directions: Buy at Rowf's Badge Shop for 100 Coins.

MEGA RUSH
Description: When Mario is in Peril, his attack power goes up by 4.
Badge Points: 1
Location: Tubba Blubba's Castle
Directions: On the second floor of the castle, you'll find a room with a clock
you can push. If you move it out of the way, you'll reveal a door to another
room containing a large bed and two sets of drawers. Use the A button on the
right set of drawers to pull one out for use as a step, then climb up to the
second and already open drawer. At that point, use Parakarry to fly onto the
bed. You'll note that on the bedspread are six coins forming an arrow pointing
at the left wall. Grab them (if you want) and then jump from the pillow to the
head of the bed and then up to the shelf attached to the left wall. Walk
carefully down this shelf to the end, and then walk into the left wall. You'll
find a hidden staircase leading down to a dark room containing only this badge
(which happens to be illuminated by a window).

LAST STAND
Description: When Mario's in Danger, he receives only half the damage.
Badge Points: 1
Location: Princess Peach's Castle
Directions: Princess Peach can pick up this badge from a chest in a side room
on the castle's first floor. After that, it's just a matter of inserting it
inside the 'mysterious chest' found behind the far right door on the second
floor so Mario can pick it up later at the fortuneteller's house near Shooting
Star Summit. Be sure to watch for guards.

POWER RUSH
Description: When Mario is in Danger, his attack power increases by 2.
Badge Points: 1
Location: Princess Peach's Castle
Directions: Princess Peach can pick up this badge in her castle library, which
is found behind the bottom left door on the second floor. After that, it's just
a matter of inserting it inside the 'mysterious chest' found behind the far
right door on the second floor so Mario can pick it up later at the
fortuneteller's house near Shooting Star Summit. As always, watch out for
guards.

CLOSE CALL
Description: When Mario's in danger, enemies sometimes fail to attack.
Badge Points: 1
Location: Goomba Road
Directions: In a red question mark box on the path from Goomba Village to Toad
Town. Easy to spot.

PRETTY LUCKY
Description: Makes enemies fail to attack Mario every once in a while.
Badge Points: 3
Location: Shooting Star Summit
Directions: Buy from Merlow for 5 Star Pieces.

LUCKY DAY
Description: Sometimes makes enemies fail to attack Mario.
Badge Points: 7
Location: Goomba Village
Directions: You'll receive this badge after completing a LONG chain of mail
deliveries beginning and ending with letters to Goompapa. Even though it's
technically found in the first town of the game, you certainly won't get it
until somewhere near the end; the letter deliveries span the globe from Koopa
Village to Yoshi's Island to such far-off locales as Starborn Valley.

ICE POWER
Description: Increases attack power against fire enemies by 2. Mario won't take
damage when he jumps on a fire enemy.
Badge Points: 2
Location: Shy Guy's Toy Box
Directions: You can find this badge in the area to the right of the Pink
Station. It's right along the main path, so you won't have any trouble finding
it.

FIRE SHIELD
Description: Makes the damage Mario takes from fire attacks go down by 1. Mario
won't take damage when he jumps on a fire enemy
Badge Points: 2
Location: Mt. Lavalava
Directions: Early along in Mt. Lavalava, there's a room with two zip cords. The
second zip cord, near the bottom of the room, runs overtop a small platform
suspending this badge (if you watch carefully, you can see it passing below you
when you ride by on the zip cord). Jump off the zip line about halfway through
its course to land on the platform and claim the badge.

SPIKE SHIELD
Description: Lets Mario jump on a spiked enemy without taking damage.
Badge Points: 2
Location: Dry Dry Ruins
Directions: This badge is found just inside a coffin in the first hallway of
the ruins. It's pretty much a gimmie; if you miss this badge, seriously
consider getting your eyes checked by a qualified professional.

FEELING FINE
Description: Protects Mario from poisoning and dizziness during attack.
Badge Points: 3
Location: Shooting Star Summit
Directions: Buy from Merlow for 5 Star Pieces.

ZAP TAP
Description: In battle, makes most enemies who touch Mario take damage.
Badge Points: 4
Location: Shooting Star Summit
Directions: Buy from Merlow for 10 Star Pieces.

HEART FINDER
Description: After beating an enemy, makes more hearts appear than usual.
Badge Points:
Location: Shooting Star Summit
Directions: Buy from Merlow for 12 Star Pieces.

FLOWER FINDER
Description: After beating an enemy, makes more flowers appear than usual.
Badge Points:
Location: Shooting Star Summit
Directions: Buy from Merlow for 12 Star Pieces.

RUNAWAY PAY
Description: Lets Mario earn Star Points even if he escapes from battle.
Badge Points: 2
Location: Dry Dry Desert
Directions: Refer to the Badge Hunting section on the Dry Dry Desert.

REFUND
Description: Refunds some coins if you use an item in battle.
Badge Points: 1
Location: Koopa Bros. Fortress
Directions: Inside the fortress, there is a large, spiral-like room that
contains both a trap door (that leads to Bombette's jail cell) and a door
leading to an outside patio with a Save Block. In the very bottom right corner
of this room there is a cracked wall that Bombette can take out. Doing so will
open a hole in the wall that leads outside to a patio where the chest
containing the badge is located.

MONEY MONEY
Description: After a battle, lets Mario get twice as many coins as usual.
Badge Points: 7
Location: Shooting Star Summit
Directions: Buy from Merlow for 20 Star Pieces.

PAY-OFF
Description: The more damage Mario takes, the more coins he receives.
Badge Points: 2
Location: Shooting Star Summit
Directions: Buy from Merlow for the low, low price of 1 Star Piece.

I SPY
Description: A sound and icon alert you to a nearby hidden panel.
Badge Points: 1
Location: Toad Town
Directions: Rowf will give you this badge after you return his Calculator,
which is stolen from him in Chapter Four by Shy Guys and can be recovered early
inside the Toy Box. A Shy Guy near the Blue Station has it.

CHILL OUT
Description: Keeps you from being hit by a First Strike.
Badge Points: 2
Location: Shooting Star Summit
Directions: Buy from Merlow for 3 Star Pieces.

SPEEDY SPIN
Description: Increases the distance Mario can Spin Dash.
Badge Points: 1
Location: Toad Town
Directions: Buy at Rowf's Badge Shop for 50 Coins.

DIZZY ATTACK
Description: Delivers a blow that makes an enemy dizzy an unable to move.
Badge Points: 2
Location: Pleasant Path
Directions: Inside a red question mark box on the way to Koopa Village from
Toad Town. It's extremely difficult to miss.

SPIN ATTACK
Description: Lets Mario destroy a weaker enemy with a spinning move.
Badge Points: 3
Location: Dry Dry Desert
Directions: Refer to the Badge Hunting section on the Dry Dry Desert.

FIRST ATTACK
Description: Lets Mario destroy a weaker enemy with a First Strike.
Badge Points: 1
Location: Toad Town
Directions: Buy at Rowf's Badge Shop for 100 Coins.

BUMP ATTACK
Description: Lets Mario destroy a weaker enemy in the field by hitting it.
Badge Points: 5
Location: Toad Town Tunnels
Directions: Buy from Rip Cheato in the southeastern section of the Tunnels for
64 Coins. Note that you'll have to make two additional 64 Coin purchases (a
Star Piece and a Life Shroom, incidentally) before he will offer this badge.

SLOW GO
Description: Makes Mario unable to run. His pace becomes very slow.
Badge Points: 0
Location: Dry Dry Ruins
Directions: Just above the treasure chest where the Super Hammer is found there
are two small overhangs on which Mario can walk. Get onto the first one, and
then carefully drop down to the second. From there, walk (running probably
isn't a wise idea) across to the far left wall and then walk directly into it
from the bottom left corner of the overhang. You should pass through and find
yourself in a small, dark alcove off the main room. From there, you'll spot the
treasure chest containing the badge within a spotlight.

ATTACK FX A
Description: Changes the sound effects when Mario's attacking.
Badge Points: 0
Location: Shooting Star Summit
Directions: Buy from Merlow for 1 Star Piece.

ATTACK FX B
Description: Changes the sound effects when Mario's attacking.
Badge Points: 0
Location: Pleasant Path
Directions: Just outside of Koopa Village, there are three bricks you can smash
with your hammer. Picture them as a triangle, then smash the bottom left point,
the bottom right point, and the top point in that order. A red question mark
box containing the badge will appear.

ATTACK FX C
Description: Changes the sound effects when Mario's attacking.
Badge Points: 0
Location: Dry Dry Desert
Directions: Refer to the Badge Hunting section on the Dry Dry Desert.

ATTACK FX D
Description: Changes the sound effects when Mario's attacking.
Badge Points: 0
Location: Toad Town
Directions: This badge is the reward for a small side quest involving the
poet/songwriter at Club 64 (the small restaurant found in the harbour section
of Toad Town) and a composer from Dry Dry Outpost. Talk to the poet inside the
Club (he has green spots on his cap and a mustache), and he'll pass you some
Lyrics. Take these Lyrics to the composer in Dry Dry Desert (his home is next
to the Shop), and he'll turn them into a Melody. Return the Melody to the poet
and you'll get the badge.

ATTACK FX E
Description: Changes the sound effects when Mario's attacking.
Badge Points: 0
Location: Shiver City
Directions: One screen to the left of the pipe to the Toad Town Tunnels lies
several houses. The rightmost of these houses has an upper window on the inside
which can be reached and opened by hopping up the inhabitant's furniture. Once
outside on the house's balcony, hop over to the neighbouring house on the left.
Enter using the window and snag this badge from the chest within.
